Book Review: Music For Torching

You are your own beginning. Every day, every hour, every minute, you start again. There is no point wishing you were someone else, you are who you are-start there. Accept the things you find

I came across this book on a list of 'The top 10 novels of the past 20 years'. Here is the link: http://listverse.com/2010/10/10/top-10-best-novels-of-the-last-20-years/, and I decided to read all 10 books and see for myself. I personally loved the book, until the end. It is definitely worth the read. From what i read about the book the main characters first appear in a short story, 'the after of Objects' and developed into their own book. This book is really engaging and has you hooked at the beginning. It is very unpredictable. It is told in third person, transitioning from Elaine to Paul. It is written very bluntly and has a cold vibe to it. The couple appears to be a normal middle class couple, appearing to be just like their friends, socializing, going to dinner parties, and parents to two kids. The author shows us their real lives filled with affairs, a physically and mentally abusive relationship. This sick couple tries to be normal, find happiness, and cure their boredom. The ending is no happily ever after... You close the book knowing that wasn't the end.
